Blow dry 101

As per youtube (I don't exactly agree with all these tips)
  1. Wash your hair
  2. Product application (foundation)
  3. (*I dont agree with this one) Hold blow dryer by nozzle to direct airflow
  4. Flip head over and dry from roots to ends (adds volume)
  5. Flip head back, smooth out hair
  6. Chase the brush with your dryer (*use a boar bristle brush)
  7. Smooth out with finishing product from roots to ends.
Other recomended products:
  • volumizing moose (not sure this is a good idea for me- maybe people with natural stick straight hair)
  • Anti frizz shine
  • smoothing gel
  • 1. pre-styler with thermal protectant 2. anti-frizz cream
Other tips:
  • Use cool shot button when drying the base
  • Dry the hair w/out brush about 80%
  • Brush: take sections of hair no wider than the brush and no deeper than the diameter
  • Use the directional nozzle
  • Blowdry the front bangs 1st, it keeps them from getting frizzy + shows a client you know what your doing
  • Hair will hold the shape it gets when it cools down *BIG TIP* use the cool shot button on the dryer when your done before you let the hair down. Then hold it there and allow it to cool. For added volume, you may want to transfer hair to Velcro rollers (after + while your doing make up)
  • After put a few drops of shine in hair a separate pieces and style hair with hands *IT NEEDS TO BE WORKED for style*
  • The longer the hair, the larger brush you should use
  • Wrap hair around the brush and dry the roots 1st, lifting up to create lift and volume
  • Hold brush to let that area cool and then follow along down the rest of hair
  1. Start in the front, it's the MOST important part, where most of the style comes from!!
  2. Pull it forward, get lift at root and make sure its smooth, *make sure is thoroughly dry from roots to the ends
  3. Make sure hair is very very dry or it'll just collapse after you finish
  4. Then set in Velcro rollers (w a clip to hold) as you go
  5. for the runway look u can also use a big barrel curling iron
  • 1. When using shine product, always start at the ENDS and work your way up the hair
  • If you need Volume you would add a mouse or a gel (concentrate on the roots?)

  • 2. Start with sectioning your hair from the top, working from your temple area, think about making a horse shoe, twist around + clip
  • Section 2- from top of your ear, straight back on both sides - that creates the middle area- twist and clip out of the way
  • 3. next set is rough drying, get most of the moisture out before you start with the brush **put brush on top of hair with your THUMB holding the section (on the bottom)**
  • Once you've gone through a few times with the brush on the top, you want to go to the bottom and turn the brush for tension
  • Section 2- rough dry
  • Top- the most challenging part is the crown area- get in there with the brush 1st, then pick up the dryer and come in
Tools
  • Brushes
  • Clip
  • Blowdryer with nozzle
